Peter Jackson asked Ed Sheeran personally to produce and record a song for the soundtrack of his upcoming film "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" which opens in theaters worldwide on December 13th. The new piece of music in question is titled "I See Fire", and it wil be heard during the ending credits of the new "Hobbit" film. On "I See Fire", the British musician shared with fans on Twitter: "Big up Peter Jackson and his team for giving me the opportunity", "I got the chance to produce and play all the instruments on it apart from the cello. Managed to learn violin for a day, hope you all dig it", and "It's also the first solo song I've released in over 2 years, it's not on the new album though, that fun starts next year". Two years now? Wow. It was already time for new Ed Sheeran solo music! Critics agree "I See Fire" is a stunning, and precious song; with fitting lyrics for the epic film, and a sweet, and calm production. As of this post, "I See Fire" has cracked iTunes' Top 20.
