Lorde: "Team" Performance On "Letterman"

lorde performs on letterman

About time, huh? New Zealand rising singer Lorde has, at last, begun promoting her new US single "Team". The charismatic, up-lifting track is lifted from Lorde's debut album "Pure Heroine", and was released on iTunes back in September. Lorde, though, did not promote the song at the time (as everyone was expecting) because her monster breakthrough single "Royals" was (and still is) performing strong on the US charts and radios. Therefore, all promotional efforts for "Team" were put on hold. Could it be that Lorde is utterly tired of singing "Royals" everywhere she goes, or that someone at her record company finally thought it was time to move on for good? I don't know, but I'm glad a new single is finally getting pushed from Lorde camp. With yet high digital sales of "Royals" and radio presence, isn't her label going to lose money if they take attention away from "Royals" with "Team", though?. In any case, I am here too for hearing Lorde performing something on TV that isn't "Royals". In fact, she already did last night during her concert at "Late Show with David Letterman". Lorde performed a full concert, but only her performance of "Team" was broadcasted on TV. How did she fare? She sounded as good as the album version, so vocally she delivered, but as for the "stage presence skills" that we've all hoped she'd improved, well...she's still doing those quirky, stroke-like movements onstage which are weird as heck. Don't they take away your attention from the song a bit?

Thoughts?
