The boys in One Direction have revealed that they are to follow in the footsteps of other celebrities, including Britney Spears and the Beckhams, by releasing their own signature scent on to the market. The boyband plan to have the fragrance out in the summer as part of the merchandising which they sell through their 'pop up' 1D World stores around the globe – including those recently opened in Leeds and London. Irish singer, Niall Horan, said of the planned perfume: “As a band, we have been discussing making a fragrance for our fans for quite a while so we’re really excited to finally have this opportunity. “We’ve been working away on this and we’re very proud of the way it has turned out – we really can’t wait to hear what our fans think.” Niall and his four bandmates – Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson – are all reported to be in line to pocket £10 million each this year from album sales, concert tickets and merchandise. Their manager, Will Bloomfield, insisted that all five members had been deeply involved in making the new scent and were 'passionate' about their new spin-off product. “The band are incredibly passionate about this project and have been closely involved in the creation of the scent, the packaging and bottle design and the name itself,” Bloomfield added. “The name of the fragrance is still confidential, but more news will be revealed in early 2013.”
