30 Seconds To Mars have sent their new single into space. Earlier today (March 1), the first copy of 'Up In The Air' was launched from Cape Canaveral to the International Space Station in the SpaceX Dragon Cargo Capsule. The single is set for release on March 19. 30 Seconds To Mars were in Florida to watch the galactic launch of the single, which is being transported by the Falcon 9 rocket, alongside in excess of 1,200 pounds of scientific experiments and cargo. On March 18, 30 Seconds To Mars will visit Mission Control Houston and take part in a Q&A session with Tom Marshburn, one of the astronauts aboard the space station. 'Up In The Air' is taken from the band's forthcoming fourth album, which is set for release later this year. Last year frontman Jared Leto said the new LP will be "stronger, better and more evolved." He also told BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe that the record will be "a complete transformation for us" and added: "I really think that this could be the best thing that we've ever done." The follow-up to 2009's 'This Is War' has been recorded across the world, with sessions taking place in Asia, Europe and America. 30 Seconds To Mars will be playing this summer's Download Festival, alongside Queens Of The Stone Age, Alice In Chains and Motorhead.
