Carly Rae Jepsen, Nicki Minaj Team Up For 'Tonight I'm Getting Over You' Remix
As Carly Rae Jepsen continues to serve up radio offerings from her underrated 2012 pop opus "Kiss," the "Call Me Maybe" singer has recruited Nicki Minaj to guest on a remix of her latest, "Tonight I'm Getting Over You." The remix will be officially released next week, but leaked online on Thursday night (May 2); listen to it here.
"Tonight I'm gettin' overrrr/Meditate and do my yogarrr," Minaj kicks off her verse as synth blasts spiral around her voice. The new version of "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" plays out like Minaj's remix of Britney Spears' "Til The World Ends" (also featuring Ke$ha), with the Young Money rapper injecting the track with cartoonish whimsy while the pop diva acting as the lead artist commands her subjects to dance.
Minaj -- who joined the lineup of performers at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards earlier this week -- previously worked with Jepsen's pal Justin Bieber on his single "Beauty and a Beat," which reached the Top 10 of the Hot 100 chart. Another fun fact: Minaj and Jepsen are the last two recipients of Billboard's "Rising Star" award, presented each year at the Women in Music event.
On Wednesday, Jepsen took the "Live with Kelly & Michael" stage to perform "Tonight I'm Getting Over You," albeit with Minaj by her side. Watch the solo performance below:
