Get those Japanese coins, Charli XCX!
“Sucker”, the third studio album by the British singer-songwriter, will be released in Japan on February 18th and Warner Music has come up with a strategy to make the album a certified hit in the Asian country; to make Charli XCX include Japanese versions of the singles!
How long has it been since a western artist has done this? I can’t really recall the last. Care to help refresh my mind?
Japanese ‘angels’ (as Charli XCX calls her fans) will see their “Sucker” copies feature Japanese versions of “Boom Clap” and “Break the Rules” all sung 100% by Charli XCX – no Milli Vanilli case here. Warner Music is building the hype for these songs in Japan by posting lengthy snippets on the YouTube account of its Japanese branch. Stream below:
This is so unbelievably cute! I’mma need a Japanese reader to verify if Charli XCX is serving decent pronunciation, though. Still hearing her sing in Japanese has made my day!
PS: “Break the Rules” is 100% more badass in Japanese!
