Adele to perform Oscar-nominated song 'Skyfall' at 2013 Oscars

Adele will perform her Oscar-nominated song "Skyfall," the theme of the James Bond film of the same name, at the 2013 Oscars next month, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced. This will mark the first time the British artist will sing the track live and also marks her first performance on U.S. television since she performed at the 2012 Grammys last February. The 2013 Oscars is set to include a tribute to the James Bond movie franchise, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Adele's Oscar nomination for "Skyfall," a track she wrote with Paul Epworth, marks her first nod. She won a Golden Globe for the song (pictured above) earlier this month. She has also previously won nine Grammys. "It's an honor to be nominated and terrifyingly wonderful to be singing in front of people who have captured my imagination over and over again," Adele said in a statement released by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on January 23. "It's something I've never experienced and probably only ever will once!" The song "Skyfall" is up against "Before My Time" from "Chasing Ice," "Pi's Lullaby" from "Life of Pi", the new track "Suddenly" from the film adaptation of "Les Miserables" and "Everybody Needs A Best Friend" from "Ted," whose lyrics were written by Seth MacFarlane, the movie's director, creator of "Family Guy" and host of the 2013 Oscars.
