Video: Carly Rae Jepsen Performs New Song 'Take a Picture' on 'American Idol' Finale
Canadian recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen performed the new song "Take a Picture" on the Wednesday episode of "American Idol", the first night of the FOX show's two-part grand finale. The 27-year-old singer sang the final version of the Coca-Cola "Perfect Harmony" tune written with the help of the show's viewers, who contributed lyrics and even performance elements once it debuts onstage. Wearing a white-striped sleeveless top over a mostly black ensemble of leather shorts and platform shoes, Jepsen took off the yellow blazer she had on at the start of her performance and replaced her sunglasses with a black hat with yellow accent as she got ready to be lifted up by several back-up dancers. As she strutted onstage, photos of her ongoing actual performance popped onscreen on cue as she sang the lyrics "take a picture." Jepsen is herself a product of the "Idol" franchise, having placed third in the 2007 season of "Canadian Idol". She gave the two finalists Kree Harrison and Candice Glover advice to learn the ropes of the music business and find good people to manage them once they pursue their own careers after the show. Asked as to whether which celebrity would make a great judge on "Idol" after the departure of Randy Jackson and amid speculations that the rest of the panel were also on their way out, Jepsen endorsed fellow Canadian artist and friend Justin Bieber. "Justin would be awesome. He's got lots of great opinions when it comes to the music world and he's very experienced especially for being so young," she gushed.
